On my brand, when we are working on our latest print copy we check the details over and over and over again….we also pay an agency to check the details over and over and over again….and then we also ask some consumers to take a look before we use it…
I don’t think that this is unusual practice but one of the world’s biggest brands, McDonald’s seem to have got it wrong!!
McDonald’s latest campaign across countries plays one the fact that they claim to use 100% local ingredients…i.e British Potatos for chips in the UK….but an execution in my current place of residence, Switzerland, has gone slightly wrong…here is the copy and see if you can spot it…

Beef from Switzerland….get it…Swiss flag in the corner and on the cow and the golden arches…a simple communication, to us that don’t know that is…but it didn’t take long for a local farmer who knows a thing or 2 about cows to notice that the tag in the ear of the cow denotes that it is from…
AUSTRIA!!!!!!!
Apparantly this is share and re-apply gone wrong…what was an adaptation of the Austrian copy has embarrassed the mega brand…..but I will tell you one thing…
I’m Loving It!!!!
