Advent

Everyday running up to Christmas I am going to post a different advert…it can be old or new, good or bad but it will definitely make you smile :-)

We are going to start with my favourite Christmas advert this year  for UK’s  industry leaders favourite brand John Lewis. The film entitled “A Tribute to Givers” has already been at the centre of controversy after the 60sec which features a dog left outside has been claimed to ‘glamourise’ dog neglect. I have to admit my first reaction to the film was ‘why is the dog outside??’ but I was quickly over it. John Lewis have kept the 60 sec ad playing and will until the 18th of December but have conceded to change the final scene of the 30 sec.

It is a shame that the backlash has taken away from what is really a great piece of emotional advertising from John Lewis. Viewers come to expect big things from the annual spot and creative directors Sidney Rogers and Harry Bugden at Adam & Eve, London have delivered. The film was  shot by director Eric Lynne via Partizan with producer Russell Curtis and director of photography Mattias Montero.

Finally, the film has also launched a new version of Elton John’s ‘Your Song’  performed by Brit Award winner Elie Goulding which was produced in collaboration with Ben Lovett from Mumford and Sons.
